The creator of the Robosapien RS Media first started the Robosapien four years ago and since then he feels he's been ostracised because he "dared to do something fun".

He says that most of the serious robot makers feel that he's dumbed down the industry with the Robosapien.

Some of the issue may revolve from the fact that Tilden had a relatively serious career before-hand which included teim at Nasa and a researcher at the US government's research base at Los Alamos and now he's creating fun robots for money.

And now the Guardian is catching on and saying that the Robosapien RS Media "is likely to be one of the most popular toys this Christmas."

And Hamley's agrees, their buying manager: Dave Pope says the Robosapien technology "puts it light years ahead of anything else".

So why do they call it the "RS Media"?

Well it's because the "Robosapien RS Media" has got an integrated LCD display which can play MPEG videos, 50mb of internal memory and files can be transferred from your PC. So you can let it walk around your house playing music.

It basically sees things with it's infrared sensors. When it hears something it goes and investigate and see what's going on.

The accompanying software can allow you to change it's profile between "Service Bot 3000", "Billy Joe Sapien" and others. You can even create your own profile!

Just imagine if it was 7-foot tall, you could let it loose whilst you go to the pub and if anyone does break in they'll cr@p themselves!

NXT Compatibility

News reaches us that the upcoming Robosapien RS Media from WowWee is allegedly enhancable with the new Lego Mindstorms NXT module.

The Mindstorms NXT brain fits into the Robosapien Media RS's backback which will give you much more control over the robot.

The new Robosapien RS Robot is such an improvement on the old robot. It's got an SD card slot and an LCD screen.

The Robosapien RS Media was introduced by WowWee Toys International at the Consumer Electronics Show this year.

The Robosapien RS Media is a vast improvement in terms of the technology and flexibility over the Robosapien V2 that was recently released.

This fella isn't too intense when it comes to knowing robotics as it usings the Mindstorm NXT technology. The NXT Brain fits into the robot's backpack which allows you to program a range of movements - how many of us will get it to do a few John Travolta moves?

Robosapien RS Media Features:

A 320 x 160 color LCD display that shows you what the robot is seeing through the camera that is mounted on his head.
The Robosapien RS can display an image or MPEG video downloaded by the user onto the robot’s removable SD memory sticks, on the LCD display.
The ability to create your own movements with the accompanying BodyCon editing package.
The option to record and store your voice into the Robosapien RS's SD memory sticks which can be played back by the robot.
Includes a USB port to inerface with the robot.
It can play back music files that you download to it through it’s 11 watt stereo speakers.
